A belligerent butterfly. The males of this species are among the most territorial species in the display. They perch on prominent leaves and fly off after any butterfly that comes close. They are attracted to white and anyone wearing white is likely to have a diadem land on them. The males maybe using the white patch on the wing as a cue for recognising other males. When viewed from the front and side, this butterfly has a mauve sheen surrounding this white patch.
