Bananas in Wales. The Cavendish Banana is the most widespread banana that we eat. The commerical bananas have no seeds and the plant is propagated by offshoots or 'pups' as they are known. This picture shows the fruits just emerging from the stem. It took a further three months for them to mature. In the wild, the flowers (note the yellow petals) are pollinated by fruit bats as our many rain forest trees.
